On all of my social media pages, my profile picture has always been my logo.
And one day recently, a good friend of mine said to me, “you can’t keep using that rooster on everything.”
She was right. I needed a head shot. I need to have a little more identity on my blog and social media pages.
Thing is, I loath getting my picture taken. I am uber critical of myself, and I guess I just feel a little silly getting my picture taken. I am certainly more comfortable behind the camera. Each picture does has a story. Poetry. And when I’m getting my picture taken, I’m not hearing any rhymes.
So I put my discomfort aside and made an appointment for head shots. I called Dawn Sela who takes beautiful photos and she assured me that all would be right in the world with my photos. Not only is Dawn excellent with head shots, but she also take beautiful family portraits.
I brought a few outfits with me and was ready to roll. Got my makeup done. And it was time to get my picture taken.
I tried to think of things to make my smile look genuine, not forced. I thought of things we say to the kids to make them smile.
“Say Cheese!”
“Lobsters pee out of their eyeballs!”
With the help of a few of Dawn’s tricks, I got through the photo shoot. And in the end, I had a good time. I ended up enjoying the process. And after taking over 100 pictures, I actually found one or two that I like.
