It is an annual tradition for the Little Miss and me to shop the Stormville Flea Market on Memorial Day weekend. We wake up at stupid o’clock on Saturday morning, and make our way to find good, quality treasures. We swiftly walk the antiques section of the market, then take another walk-thru to really see what there is to find.
This past visit, we were coming up empty-handed. Until we saw this….
Umm. Yes!
A marquée “B”. Hello, I’m all in!! “B” is for totally!! I can absolutely find a spot in my office for another “B”, especially one that I can light up.
I brought it home and Sean gave it the once-over. He gave me a small list of things to buy and off I went to make this old “B” light up.
In keeping things on the easier side, we decided that an outdoor strand of lights would be our best bet for the look that we were aiming for. And the most cost effective.
High heat electrical putty and sticky tie rap holders were the first things needed. We figured out where we wanted each bulb to fit. After drilling the holes, Sean fitted the sockets in and secured them with the putty.
I wanted the lights to dim, so Sean also wired a dimmer switch to the “B.” Click here to see how to install a dimmer switch on a cord.
And we were in business.
We hung the “B” on the wall; the wall in which is slowing becoming my gallery wall.
This project couldn’t be easier. Nor cheaper. All in, this project was less than $40. Not bad for a vintage light fixture!

What a spectacular idea! I’m not sure I’m this handy, but I would love to find/make something like this for my son’s next show. I’ve pinned it- in case! #InspiredBN

How cool! That was really innovative to see that old "B" and know it could become something so pretty.

This was a great find and good for you for lighting it up yourself. What else do you look for at flea markets?
